With their fifth album Delta reaching number one in their home country New Zealand, live d&b outfit NZ Shapeshifter have further cemented their place as one of contemporary music’s defining bands, enjoying fourteen years of critically acclaimed output on Trutone Recordings and Hospital Records as well pioneering live shows. Ahead of the UK release of Gravity this month, the third single from Delta, they’ve drafted in Netherlands based liquid d&b don Lenzman to provide a remix, something he does with class and sophistication for a beautiful roller that’s all too easy to get lost in. He lets the originals smooth atmospherics and soft vocal build up alongside a steady high hat into a punching kick snare combo and warm bass line as he deftly weaves the originals vocals, pianos and light pads into a liquid symphony.
The single also comes with a deep, bass fueled remix with whale like atmospherics from Pacific Heights and, of course, the original, the video for which you can check out below. Head over to their Bandcamp for some incredible looking vinyl packages too.
