MNSRFrites Hip Hop on the Tube

While we’ve been shooting off to festivals left right and center and enjoying what the musical world has to offer, those that make that possible have been in the lab, the studio or shooting videos and working as hard as ever to ensure we had plenty of new music and visuals to come back to. From young artists that are new to our ears, to the vets who’ve been providing the soundtrack to our lives for a while now, this months dose of Youtube is as on point as ever.

MNSR Frites- I Drink Coffee (Prod. Sam Zircon)
South London wordsmith MNSR Frites, of full hip hop band Granville Sessions, has teamed up with Sam Zircon, a producer who after his incredible EP with Cappo has been making a lot of movements on the scene, for a laid back joint that goes out to the coffee heads.

Imagery & Keizen- Take a Look
London duo Imagery and Keizen are new to me, but I’m really feeling the soulful sounds of Take a Look. Over Keizen’s smooth instrumental, Imagery laces buttery flows to scenes of East London. Watch for their forthcoming The New Age mixtape on Bandcamp.

Gardna Ft. Parly B- Big Bad Sound
Bristolian MC Gardna’s teamed up with ragga vocalist Parly B over a dub fueled beat from Dr. Meaker for a soundboy inspired tune that creates a nice blend between Hip Hop and Dub.

Cappo- Grand Final
This ones a throwback, but any Cappo upload is worth a listen. Brighton label Tru Thoughts recently uploaded a Cappo track from his 2003 Spaz the World album on now disbanded Brighton label Zebra Traffic, a label who’s back catalogue is well worth an investigation.

Hawk House- Tidal Tendencies
This dropped back towards the start of the year, but somehow Hawk House (formerly A Yellow Man) have only just come to my attention. A three man crew, they bring an old school vibe to more modern beats which is unbeatable. Download their free mixtape A Little More Elbow Room here.

Herrotics- Odder
More left field, gully hip hop from Blah Records, Herrotics style is dark, raw and head banging. This one’s from their forthcoming Se Con D Dr Op project.

ThisisDA- Lifers
One from across the pond, two man crew ThisisDA hit a hard beat produced by Mankub with funky flows for an up beat track off their forthcoming Super Arkane free album. Watch for that on their Bandcamp.

Nom- The Christening
More from American soil, but on a very different vibe, Nom’s smooth, laid back and contemplative sound is dope on this one. Cop his ten track Lucid EP free here.

Dirty Dike- Strange James
Dirty Dike returns with a brand new exclusive over a Pete Cannon beat. Another rawkus, drunken portrait, his honest and to the point lyricism is on point once again.

The Mouse Outfit Ft. Fox & Sparkz- Built in a Day
This tune was a definite contender for my favourite from The Mouse Outfit’s debut album Escape Music and they’ve just given it the video treatment. Fox’s smooth hook breaks up quick fire flows from him and Sparkz over an incredible trumpet led beat from the band.

Savvy and The Savoir Faire- Beefy
It’s been a while since we heard much from Asavoir, but his recent project alongside live band The Savoir Faire has seen him reworking classics from his 2009 collab LP with DJ IQ that was released on Saving Grace Music.

Adam & Cuth- Life Goes On
Another tune of Brighton origins, Adam and Cuth return once again with a video for The Letters EP bonus track Life Goes On.
