A really good quality mid week d&b night has been something long missing from London’s club landscape, some would say even since the departure of seminal dance music venue The End. While the occasional album launch or label birthday encourages a school night dose of 170 (such as Exit Records birthday at The Nest), these are few and far between and the more regular offerings often seem too obsessed with morning desk vomiting inducingly cheap drinks, the budget for which balances out in their DJ purses for nights that cater to a less discerning music crowd. No more is the mid week night the hub where friendships and collaborations are formed between the cities’ most dedicated heads; heads that, slightly more sober between the weekends antics, have more chance of remembering their shouted promises the next morning.
Out to change this unfortunate fact comes one of d&b’s longest running stalwarts in the form of Bailey, joined by new school king Need for Mirrors. Returning for their third installment on Wednesday 7th May and continuing every first wednesday of the month, their recently launched night Soul in Motion’s free guest list policy and undeniable musical pedigree promises a connoisseur selection of the capital’s finest drum and bass. Joined for it’s May installment by CIA legends Total Science as well as DJ Sweetpea giving a label showcase from up and coming Londoners Flexout Audio and an as yet unannounced special guest, Bailey and Need for Mirrors no doubt have plenty of stompers to release onto London’s most dedicated of d&b enthusiasts, something we can’t help but look forward to.
