Atmosphere- To All My Friends
I’m an absolute chronic Atmosphere fan. I think Slug’;s one of the best lyricists, and more importantly one of the best story tellers, in Hip Hop, and Ant’s beats compliment him perfectly. Their Discography and work rate is absolutely amazing, with ten albums since 1997, and their live show is riveting, in part thanks to Slug’s big character and honest delivery. I had the pleasure of meeting them both outside Koko and can honestly say their both some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, Slug came out to greet the queu before the gig, and Ant we saw after, just on his way back from grabbing some beers at the shop down the road, that’s Hip Hop for you! Signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment, along with other greats in US independant Hip Hop such as Brother Ali, Eyedea (RIP) and Abilities Atmosphere represent to me a lot of what’s still good about US Hip Hop.
I suddenly realised I’d been sleeping on their 2010 double ep, ‘To All My Friends, Blood Makes the Blade Holy, so grabbed it this week and, as always, wasn’t dissapointed. This particular tracks the sign out of the eps and I’m simply in love with that hook! If you haven’t already, make sure to check out their free albums, Leak at Will and Strictly Leakage, as well as the rest of their discography.
